Hello, I’m Renée and welcome to the colourful world of Dabble Art!
Dabble Art workshops are for children aged 5-12 (Prep to year 7). We Dabble on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3:30-4:45pm during the school term. Sometimes I offer special school holiday workshops. (If I’m not off exploring our beautiful country!) Those are advertised on the website and in our newsletter. For more information, please check out the ‘Workshops‘ link.
Dabble Art was founded in 2011 as a hobby business, to share my love of Art and creativity and to provide the brilliant young minds in my community with an appropriate space in which to unleash their imaginations. I believe Art is an essential part of life, providing us with freedom of expression and I’m really proud of the space that I have built, along with my students. We have a groovy little workshop set up under my house where we explore the limitless realm of Visual Art. It’s a safe and friendly place to learn and discover. Though we are all unique, our shared passion for Art unites us. We work harmoniously, side by side, encouraging and inspiring each other through Art.
I’d love to meet you at one of my workshops one day!
10 interesting things you should definitely know about me:
1. I have a REALLY long name. Seriously, check this out: Renée-Michele Joy Tongia-Royle. See, told you it was long! Although my first name is French, I am actually part Tongan.
2. I have two fabulous daughters (Ellianah and Zahli) who make me laugh every day. They’re also pretty good at making me yell too.
3. I used to think boys were gross when I was 5. Luckily I changed my mind, because now I have a husband! His name is Adam and he’s a bit of a legend around here.
4. I LOVE music so much. All types. But my absolute favourite is folk and bluegrass. The more twang the better! And cowbell. You can never have too much cowbell.
5. My Ukulele is one of my best friends. We spend quite a bit of time together. Our friendship is one with strings attached. Ha! Get it! (Yep, I have a great sense of humour too…)
6. When I was little, I used to think that that my Mum’s name was actually ‘Mum’. When I learned that her name was in fact Tammy, my mind was blown! I love my Mum to the moon and back and back again.
7. I’m an awesome cook. My husband is often astounded by my culinary skills and believes I could make a gourmet meal from dirt and tea leaves.
8. I can pull hilarious faces. My kids think I’m like a cartoon character. My husband laughs at me a lot.
9. I love travelling and being outdoors with my family. We lived in a camper trailer for most of 2010 while we travelled around Australia. Our country is absolutely stunning – we are all so very blessed.
10. I am a qualified and registered classroom teacher with a ‘Bachelor of Primary Education and Music Major’. I also hold a blue card.
